For Vista (DO ON ALL CPU'S THAT WILL BE SHARING FILES)

1. two or more computers must have wireless on

2a. go to network sharing center and click manage network connections
2b. right click wireless network connection and click properties
2c. double click internet protocol version 4
2d. ensure it says obtain an ip address automatically and obtain DNS server
2e. Do this on all the computers.

3. (DONE BY ONLY ONE PC) Under Network and sharing centre select 
"Set up a connection or network"
4. 
select setup a wireless ad hoc network and click next twice
5a. for network name use any name, under security type use "No authorization open"
5b. If u want to password protect network choose WEP and enter security key password
6. click next and close
7.  the computer which started the wireless network will already be connected 
    the other computer(s) should now connect to the network

8a. go back to network and sharing centre
8b. ensure that network discovery, file sharing and public folder sharing are all on.
the savest public folder sharing option is the first one (read only)

9. type cmd in search bar to open cmd
10. type ipconfig
11. scroll up to IPv4 adress and that number 192.168....
    is that particular cpu ipaddress. 
12. KNOW ALL the ipaddress for the COMPUTERS U WISH TO SHARE WITH.
13. Turn off firewall!
14. Type public in search start and click the folder public 
15. copy the files to share in the one of the folders in the public folder
16. type in search \\friends ip address eg. \\192.168.5.67 
17. press enter
18. the sharing folder on friends computer should come up on urs immediately
19. DONE!!!!. if u have to wait then there is a problem. 
20. WHEN U ARE DONE ENSURE U TURN FIREWALL BACK ON!!!!!!!!!!!

problem solutions:
1. ensure the correct friends ip address is typed in
2. ensure firewall is off completely 
if u have bitdefender then turn off firewall in that program
3. do not put password protection of file sharing in network sharing center
4. ensure network discovery, file sharing and public folder sharing is on
5. ensure that u follow steps 2a-2e on all the computers
6. the network does not have to be private but u can try that if nothing else works
